Vietri

The Incanto White Scallop Bread Server pairs beautifully with the Incanto White Butter Dish and is made from terra marrone in Veneto.

Material: VIETRI uses natural earthenware clay that is indigenous to Italy. Terra marrone is a hard and dense clay used mainly in Italy for making sculptures. It is the most durable earthenware of the highest quality on the market today, using the best glazes and firing at the highest temperatures. With earthenware clay, we are able to get variations in color and glaze, for which VIETRI is famous, that bring warmth and uniqueness to our products.

Dishwasher safe - We recommend using a non-citrus, non-abrasive detergent on the air dry cycle and not overloading the dishwasher. Hand washing is recommended for oversized items.

Microwave safe - The temperature of handmade, natural clay items may vary after microwave use. We recommend allowing items to cool before taking them out of the microwave or using an oven mitt.

Oven safe - VIETRI's casserole and baking dishes can be used in most conventional ovens and dishwashers. They are handmade of very dense clays and fired at extremely high temperatures, making them heat resistant to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important that all terra cotta baking pieces be cured. Italian stoneware collections do not require curing. To cure servers, fully submerge and soak in water for 15 minutes prior to each use. This soaking prepares the dish, reduces cooking time, and prevents the food from sticking. As the Italians do, place baking dishes in a room-temperature oven and then bring the oven to cooking temperature. The handles of these pieces are decorative and should not be used for support. Do not use casserole lids in the oven.

Freezer safe - Items can withstand freezing temperatures, but please allow them to return to room temperature before putting them into the oven.

Product Artisan: Incanto comes to us from a workshop in Nove, Italy, just north of Venice. A family of master molders has worked on the collection for years, and they maintain their family and Italian heritage while crafting innovative designs. We have had the privilege of watching the artisans form the pieces of dark clay on the wheel, etch in the designs, wash them in a white glaze, and put them in the kiln to fire. (Read more at: Artisans) Each Incanto design is inspired by the geography and architecture in the Veneto region of Italy. The Baroque style is inspired by the elaborate architectural curves of 17th century Europe, and the ruffle design mimics the soft waves of the nearby Adriatic Sea. The stripe is reminiscent of the stately columns of the grand Italian Palladian villas along the Veneto's Brenta river, and the lace was inspired by the famed lace of Venice's Burano Island.

Veneto is situated in the northeastern corner of Italy. Home to Venice, rivers, lagoons, mountains, hills, and plains, the area is diverse and robust in history. Its close proximity to other countries and cultures has made it a unique region in Italy, and its ceramic production is distinctive and irreplaceable.
